[Queens, NY] – Elhaam Academy, a STEAM-focused Islamic educational institution located in the heart of Queens, celebrated the advent of the Islamic New Year 1446 with a joyous community event at Captain Tilly Park. The celebrations were marked by a special Islamic Calendar Quiz Competition that saw participation from over 50 children from the local community.
As families gathered to commemorate this significant date on the Islamic lunar calendar, children’s laughter and the spirit of friendly competition filled the air. The event, which focused on fostering a sense of unity and knowledge about Islamic heritage, featured an interactive quiz that tested participants’ understanding of the Islamic calendar and its importance in Islamic culture and religious practices.
The Quiz Competition was designed to not only be informative but also engaging, with questions ranging from the historical significance of the Hijri calendar to the names and number of months in the Islamic lunar year. Winners of the competition were awarded educational prizes, and every participant was recognized for their efforts to learn more about their faith.
“Our mission at Elhaam Academy is to empower our students with knowledge that bridges their faith and the modern world,” said Muhammad Shahidullah, Founder at Elhaam Academy. “The celebration of the Islamic New Year at Captain Tilly Park is an embodiment of our vision to nourish the intellect and spirit of our students by connecting them to their cultural roots.”
The event also provided an opportunity for parents to engage with Elhaam Academy’s faculty and gain insights into the school’s holistic approach to education, which intertwines Islamic values with a comprehensive STEAM curriculum.
“We are thrilled to see such a great turnout for the Islamic New Year celebration,” commented Muhammad Shahidullah, a parent and community member. “It’s events like these that make us proud to be a part of the Elhaam Academy family.”
Elhaam Academy extends its deepest gratitude to all the families who participated and to the community members who supported the event. The Academy looks forward to hosting more events that celebrate Islamic culture and promote educational excellence.
